1: OK, the real truth is that Chris is studying in Eugene, Oregon this quarter. But he'll be back in the Fall.

2: So now he's in charge again.

3: And she's in Europe (also studying) and will be back in the Fall.

4: Yes, this is the very same AI Jennings who is also our head artist. He is a versatile guy.

Hi. It's baseball season and for at least the next two, quarters we are going to write more about the Padres (except for Doug Jones who likes the Cubs) than we are about world hunger, and politics. We try to concentrate on school, but it's just no use. When Terry Kennedy hits his fourth homer in only 12 games we just go crazy. Even if we wanted to write an article that didn't mention baseball our typesetter Kay Zuanich, who is an avid Royals fan, would refuse to type it. So what can we do? Hey, we're stuck. It's baseball season and there's nothing we can do about it.

Writing the previous paragraph on baseball makes me sigh, and think,” It’s just great to be an American and live in the city of the National League Champions, and go to a University where a bunch of irresponsible baseball fans can slander professors and administrators and generally print all sorts of things that aren't true. Yessirree, it's great to live in our country, God-bless-it, and be partially funded by the Associated Students of UC San Diego, and to be ignored by the Chancellor and the UC Regents who probably don't even know that we exist because we never deliver papers to the Administrative Complex and certainly don't mail any issues to Berkeley where the Regents live. Not that the Regents or the Chancellor or anyone else, including our parents, is really responsible for our viewpoints anyway.

If you too like baseball and attend this glorious University in the home of the pennant-winning Padres, and you would like to write for us, why don't you come by our office in the Student Center, room 207, upstairs, around the back, near the kitchen, etc. and we'll talk shop. Our due dates are Fridays a week before each issue. You can figure out the next due date by carefully adding seven days to the date on this issue because we publish four issues each quarter and come out every other Friday.

But if you were more interested in advertising in our paper because you're a Padre fan or a friend of Doug's, why don't you stop by our office, or mail something to us at B-023 Student Center, University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA 92093. Or you can phone our Ad Manager Gerry Agerbek at 452-6244 (which is our office extension)
