Past Sungod Booths
The Sungod is a statue done by artist Niki de Saint Phalle. Every spring UCSD holds a Sungod festival that consists of music, booths and of course inebriation. Here is brief photographic summary of The Koala's involvement in UCSD's Sungod festival.
2006
We finally managed to top '04. The Koala Engineering department constructed a 30' waterside. It included heated, recirculated water from old pool parts off of craigslist cascading into an inflated pool. The slide was designed and built from wood to exactly fit the hill next to the Sungod statue. The hill was surveyed with a laser-level and a tape measure, then fitted to a spline in AutoCAD:

The slide was built in two sections that bolt together to facilitate setup and removal. The slide worked well, but the inflatable pool couldn't take the landings, as water would slosh over the slides after a landing. People didn't seem to mind landing in only inches of water at the end.
2005
Knowing we couldn't possibly top Sungod '04 and the school administrators would never give us a booth anywhere near the Sungod statue, we decided to do a bit of a foam party. We modified a leaf blower into what we dubbed the "foam cannon."

2004
This year, we decided to strap a Papier Mâchè phallus to the Sungod. It had a plumbing system installed to allow the Sungod to urinate on a large slip 'n slide we setup below.
It was a ton of fun so of course the university police and various university officials had the threaten us periodically.
The above cop told us, "I know you have individual rights, but stop taking pictures of me," and threatened to arrest a journalist taking pictures.
The old suit in the picture is Nick Aguilar UCSD director of student policies and judicial affairs. Normally one would not want to fuck with this guy, but he has already tried to kick The Koala off campus and several staff members (See Censorship Battle in 2001). The only good news is Nick Nazi will retire in January 2006.

2003
The Koala paired up with BOARD@ucsd to man a dunk tank. This dunk tank had a twist. We filled the tank with water balloons so the dunkee could soak passerby's. Then of course it was a dollar all ball in order to take revenge.
We also pared up with the SCUBA club to do photo shoot of diving the depths of the Price Center Fountain. The shoot was ruined when a Guardian photographer stole a shot, and the photo ran the next day on the cover.

2001
This was the infamous porn star tryouts. Students were invited to try their best moves on our inflatable love-doll, Becky. More pictures can be found in the Spring 2001, Issue #2:

The 1993 Koala Booth: Throw a slimy fish into a cup to win a ping pong ball.

A Sungod booth year unknown. We still have the Rock'em Sock'em Robots.
